In Crisis? Call Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988
We offer hands-on internships for individuals interested in supporting mental health initiatives across the greater Charlotte–Mecklenburg area. Interns play an active role in day-to-day operations, communications, research, and program support, while helping keep our website, database, and resources accurate and up to date.
At Mind the Gap, interns learn alongside a care-centered team ready to engage with the intern and support their community involvement and social justice-driven impact on the mental health community in Charlotte. Interns will explore four core areas of our work — Service Learning, Marketing & PR, Research & Data, and Nonprofit Administration — and choose a focus that aligns with their interests and goals.
Internships are offered each spring, summer, and fall—with a time commitment of approximately 10 to 30 hours per week depending on mutual needs. It can be done remotely or in-person. This internship may be eligible for course credit, depending on program requirements. Please inquire for more details and support there.
Each term includes a capstone project, a curriculum built around our interns’ interests with regular check-ins and a supportive, collaborative environment to do the work we are passionate about.
This is a place to learn by doing, care while creating, and step into your next chapter with confidence, joy, and connection.
We’re glad you’re here!
