In Crisis? Call Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988
This is our take on a “living museum.” Imagine being able to talk to the exhibit!
Every quarter, we host a live event sponsored by key community members and corporations in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area where the mental health stigma falls down.
Facilitated opening and closing circles, a mini info-share about Mind The Gap’s mission and vision, and authentic conversations are just the beginning. We bring experts, survivors, community leaders and educators to be guides for our participants. A guide agrees to answer any question (no stupid ones out there!) someone may have about mental health, providing their perspective and heart about this topic so bound by stigma and shame. We create a space of free-flowing information, listening, questioning, heart-to-hearts, grieving and resilience.
Each guide gets a table where they can display any materials that help them in their work. A nonprofit may choose to “table” like they do at big events, someone else might bring pictures or de-stressing toys, and another might bring resources for healing. We always make it a point to support and invite an artist who deals with themes of resilience in mental illness.
Though donations are always welcome, the event is free so long as you’ll answer a couple of questions on an entrance and exit ticket.
We’re Mind The Gap, searching for ways to connect, maintain, and fill the gaps in our wellness landscape, and always want to hear from you!
