Join Our Youth Ambassador Program

A paid cohort of 6-9 young adults in long-term mental health recovery.

Mind the Gap’s Youth Ambassardors will create hope-filled online content and engage directly with teens.

Ambassadors will become certified Peer Support Specialists and trained in mental health first aid, then work both digitally (social media content, responding to DMs, podcasts) and in-person (school visits, panels, event guides).

Their role is to counter the “Wild West” of social media with authentic voices of resilience, meeting youth where they spend the most time—online.

Possible roles and/or activities of Youth Ambassadors:

  • Positive content creation on social media
  • Responding to DMs from struggling teens
  • Speaking openly about their story with confidence, compassion, and grace
  • Being an overall ambassador of hope, resilience, authenticity against loneliness and youth mental illness
  • Doing in-person visits to collaborating schools
  • Serving on in-person and virtual panels about mental health and wellness
  • Doing trainings in Peer Support, Youth/Adult Mental Health First Aid, Deescalation, Trauma-Informed Digital Communications and other mental health certifications
  • 1 ambassador will serve on board for Mind The Gap to represent cohort
  • Hosting or guest-speaking in podcasts or online recorded activities run by Mind The Gap
  • Being an ambassador and amplifier of other resources in our library and in Charlotte online
  • Working closely with nonprofit team members to improve programming and outreach
  • Being guides at Action Afternoons hosted by Mind The Gap
