Big Brother Big Sisters of Central Carolinas – Beyond School Walls

Beyond School Walls is a unique one-to-one youth mentoring program for middle school students where local companies give back to the community by hosting children from a nearby school at their corporate office. Children are exposed to their career potential first-hand, by developing meaningful relationships with mentors in their place of work. In addition to social engagement, students are presented with a workforce readiness curriculum, designed to facilitate practical skills like public speaking, financial management, and workplace etiquette. Big Brothers Big Sisters works with companies and local middle schools to identify matches. A program coordinator is chosen to manage the program and structure all Big/Little meetings. Match support specialists provide ongoing professional support to Bigs, Littles, staff, and parents. Each company hosts bi-monthly lunches for the children and mentors.
