We are an international registry of certified therapy dog teams (with Charlotte members!). ATD provides testing, certification, registration, support, and insurance nationwide for members who volunteer with dogs to visit hospitals, special needs centers, schools, nursing homes, and other facilities. We’re a network of caring volunteers who are willing to share our special canines to bring smiles and joy to people, young and old alike. Our teams provide therapy in many settings, including but not limited to airports, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, rehab facilities, mental health institutions, schools, hospitals, cancer centers, hospice facilities, college campuses and can also provide therapy in patients’ homes.
ATD also offers a junior handler program for youth ages 12-17 (parent involvement required). Volunteer goals in mind? Becoming a Junior Handler can help you with 4H, FFA, Scout badges, church or other faith based or community volunteering programs. Whether you and your dog are looking to become a certified therapy team or your facility would like to start a therapy dog program, Alliance of Therapy Dogs (ATD) is your #1 choice for pet therapy.
